Rugby Sevens

The Rugby Sevens series culminates this weekend in Madagascar, with South Africa as Africa’s sole representative. The Blitzboks are set to compete in their final Sevens series matchups:

SA Women kick off against Argentina at 12 PM on 31 May and the men start their tournament with a match against Ireland at 2:37 PM.

Diamond League: Oslo

The Diamond League in Oslo promises an exhilarating showcase of athletic talent, particularly highlighting a strong African presence. In the men’s 400 meters, Lythe Pillay from South Africa and Leungo Scotch from Botswana will be fierce competitors. The triple jump will feature Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso and Yasser Mohammed Triki from Algeria. The women’s 300 meters will see a competitive race between two Ethiopian and two Kenyan athletes. Ivory Coast’s speed queens, Marie-Josee Ta Lou Smith and Maboundou Kone, the fastest women in Africa for the 200 meters, will also compete. The men’s 5000 meters will feature a diverse array of African representatives, while the 100 meters will be a thrilling category with top contenders like Akani Simbine, fresh off a world-leading performance at the Atlanta Games, and Emmanuel Eseme from Cameroon. The women’s 800 meters promises to be fiercely contested with Prudence Sekgodiso of South Africa, Noelie Yarigo from Benin, and Tsige Duguma. FIH Nations Cup
